Scott Beliveau

Branch Chief of Advanced Analytics & Acting Director of Data Architecture in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Scott Beliveau is a Branch Chief of Advanced Analytics & Acting Director of Data Architecture in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Mr. Beliveau also serves as the co-Lead Product Owner of Enterprise Data and Analytics products supporting and currently coordinates the USPTO Artificial Intelligence (AI) efforts.

Mr. Beliveau is a native of Providence, RI, who began his career at the USPTO in 2002 as an Examiner in the Interactive Video Distribution art area (725).  He eventually became a Supervisory Patent Examiner in that same area and led a number of special projects relating to mobile application software development, knowledge management and crowdsourcing.

With an eye towards empowering public innovation and improving USPTO operations through data driven decision/policy making, he went on to shape White House and Department of Commerce strategic data policy, built the USPTO’s modern data foundation for open data dissemination and big data analytics, and delivered many of the data services supporting both internal and external AI efforts used today at the USPTO.

Mr. Beliveau received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Brown University and his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Rhode Island.  He lives in Alexandria VA, with his wife Rachel, his son Sam, and his loyal greyhound Fiona.
