Prakalp Somawanshi is currently working at Shell Technology Center as a Principal AI Engineer. He has done his bachelors in Instrumentation and Control from university of Pune and Masters in Control & Computing (Electrical Department) from IIT Bombay. After his masters he worked with Computational Research Laboratories (TATA Sons research center) in Pune for around 5 years in the field of cryptography, scientific & high performance computing. He joined Shell in 2012 as a Computational Technologist, where he contributed in Subsurface Imaging for the development and deployment of newer geophysical algorithms. In 2017, he joined Data Science R&D team as a Machine Learning specialist where he worked on developing various, Machine learning, Machine Vision and NLP technologies for various business units. June 2019 he joined Quantitative Reservoir Management (QRM) team as a Researcher Computation and Modeling where his research focus was in building and improving reservoir models and accurately predicting production forecasts. Along with Computation and Machine Learning he also possess interests in exploring role of Block-Chain & IoT technology in energy industry. As a Principal AI engineer, Prakalp is mainly helping in building solutions around IoT and edge technologies along with building an advanced edge compute capability.
