Dr. Chakib Chraibi serves as Chief Data Scientist and Acting Associate Director for the Office of Data Services in the U.S. Department of Commerce, NTIS (National Technical Information Service). In his current position, Dr. Chraibi provides expertise and assistance to governmental agencies in harnessing innovative and emerging technologies to deliver data-driven solutions and achieve mission outcome within the NTIS framework. Dr. Chraibi serves on the Commerce’s Data Governance Board and several working groups, including CDOC’s Data Ethics and Equity and ACT-IAC’s AI. He is also the Government Chair of the ATARC Predictive Analytics and Responsible AI Working Group. Prior to his Commerce Department position, he was a software engineer at Bull Systems before transitioning to academia where he held multiple positions in several academic institutions, including Professor, Department Chair, and Dean. Dr. Chraibi received a Doctorate of Science with high honors from the University of Bordeaux, a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Binghamton University (awarded the STEM Distinguished Dissertation Award), and a Professional Certificate in Data Science from Columbia University.
