AI at the NIH: Opportunities to Improve Biomedical Research and Human Health

Featured Speaker: Dr. Susan Gregurick, Associate Director for Data Science and Director of the Office of Data Science Strategy at the National Institutes of Health

 

In biomedical and clinical research, AI has the potential to improve health and healthcare systems that will result in positive patient health outcomes. The NIH has recently developed several initiatives and programs to develop and enhance AI for biomedical research and to improve health outcomes for all of our citizens. This talk highlights NIH’s efforts in creating AI-ready data, developing ethical frameworks for the use of AI technologies in biomedicine, training new investigators at the interface of AI sciences and biomedical sciences, and utilizing AI to advance health equity. The talk will also highlight unmet challenges for the research community to consider. If you’re leading or managing an AI, data, or automation team, you should attend to find out more about how NIH is managing their data efforts, considering ethical frameworks, and other critical factors for running AI projects.
